Mancuso: “They asked us to participate in the assassination of Hugo Chávez”

Former Colombian paramilitary chief Salvatore Mancuso returned to his country to take on the role of peace manager and is currently detained in La Picota prison in Bogotá. This Tuesday, he stated that years ago they proposed to the self-defense groups to participate in a coup d’état in Venezuela and assassinate the then president Hugo Chávez.

Mancuso was deported on February 27 to Colombia from the United States where he served a 15-year sentence for drug trafficking and since then he has been held in La Picota prison in Bogotá, since in Colombia he is investigated for more than 75,000 crimes.
