Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The management of the English club Manchester United revealed its position on keeping the Portuguese player Cristiano Ronaldo during the next season 2023/2022.
Transfer window journalist Fabrizio Romano said via his Twitter account: “The transfer window is still long, and things can change, but Manchester United are clear regarding Cristiano Ronaldo, he is not for sale, and there are no talks underway now to sell him.”
“United and coach Eric ten Hag want Cristiano to stay and expect him to be part of the squad,” added Fabrizio.
According to press reports, Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United, as he is looking for a club that will participate in the Champions League next season.
Various media outlets linked Cristiano’s name to Bayern Munich, before the German club denied the rumors circulating.
Bayern sporting director Salihamidzic explained the reality of the team’s negotiations with Ronaldo: “Cristiano is a great player with a great career, yet what was circulated is nothing but an untrue rumor.”
And the “Euro Sport” website confirmed that the Bayern Munich administration has no plan to take the step of contracting Ronaldo in the current summer transfer market.
Cristiano returned to Manchester United in August 2021, and played 39 matches with the team in various competitions, during which he scored 24 goals and assisted 3 others.
Ronaldo is United’s top scorer in the English Premier League and the Champions League last season, but he and the team failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
