England – Manchester City temporarily took the lead in the English Premier League, following achieving a landslide victory over its host Luton Town by five goals to one at the Etihad Stadium, yesterday, Saturday, in the thirty-third round of the competition.
The first half of the match ended with City leading with an unanswered goal, accidentally scored by Japanese Daiki Hashioka in the second minute, following Norwegian Erling Haaland’s shot hit him and diverted towards the net.
In the second half, City added 4 goals through Croatian Mateo Kovacic, Haaland from a penalty kick, Belgian Jeremy Doku, and Croatian Joshko Gvardiol in the 64th, 76th, 87th and 93rd minutes, while Ross Barkley scored Luton Town’s goal in the 81st minute.
The victory is the third in a row for the Citizens, raising its score to 73 points, ahead of first place, two points ahead of runner-up Arsenal and third-placed Liverpool, which will host Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in the same round, tomorrow, Sunday.
On the other hand, Luton Town’s suffering continued, as it sought to escape the specter of relegation to the First Division, following its score froze at 25 points, occupying eighteenth place.
In the same round, Brentford beat its guest, Sheffield United, with two clean goals, scored by Ollie Arblaster by mistake, and Nigerian Frank Onyeka, in the 63rd and 90th minutes.
