Ilkay Gündogan’s stay in Barcelona looks to be one year. The 33-year-old is investigating his options to leave the Catalan giant, The Athletic has stated.
Now a slightly sensational comeback seems to be on the horizon.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Manchester City have made contact with the midfielder’s representatives regarding a transfer. According to the reports, Premier League champion and manager Pep Guardiola is open to bringing Gündogan back into the team.
As you know, the German left the bright blue Manchester team as recently as last summer, for a move to Barcelona. But after just one year in Catalonia, the La Liga club wants to get rid of the 33-year-old.
Romano adds that clubs in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and a bunch of other countries have also contacted the player.
Gündogan has two years left on his current contract. In total, there have been five goals and 14 assists in 51 competitive matches in the Barça shirt. He played at Manchester City between 2016-2023.
