For three weeks, medical practices have been facing an increase in COVID cases linked to a flu epidemic. The ARS announces that “the impact on the hospital sector is low”.
In the Hauts-Vallons medical office, patients follow one another with the same symptoms. “The first two weeks, we noticed a little more positive tests, around 20 or even 30% last week, there we are seeing a small decline” underlines Doctor Assef Zabi, general practitioner.
At the Ylangs pharmacy in Kawéni, many arrive with a mask on their face. Some share their experience following being affected by this new COVID wave: “I got it, I was knocked out for four days.” Faced with this, the establishment distributes free boxes of masks to their customers.
Today, we have a lot of positive cases since the end of the October holidays. A priori, it is a mild form that patients develop, with symptoms resembling winter flu.

The situation “is not alarming. There are no serious cases identified” underlines Olivier Brahic, director of the ARS. He adds that we must return to simple barrier gestures by protecting the most vulnerable people ensuring “that there will be no compulsory return to wearing a mask.” The ARS, in a press release, did not publish any figures on the subject as was the case during previous waves with the weekly news bulletins.
