The man arrived this Friday morning at parliament, surrounded by his two lawyers. At the microphone of RTBF, he said he was “very serene” following having “had the opportunity to carefully prepare his answers”.

“I come quite naturally to explain my management actions to the Office, as I did during my 13 years of service”, he declared, considering “to have nothing to be ashamed of”.

Frédéric Janssens has been suspended since mid-September, in the wake of revelations regarding the explosion in parliamentary spending. Several harassment complaints have also been filed once morest him. In March, his suspension – initially pronounced for six months – was extended for an additional six months and accompanied by a salary deduction equal to 20% of the cash remuneration from which he receives. His benefits in kind, including a company car, have also been eliminated.
