‘Most counterintelligence operations are conducted in these areas.’

Regarding the border fence, he said that there is 823 km of border fence in the south, of which eight percent with Iran and three percent with Afghanistan are yet to be completed.

Brigadier Asif from Punjab Rangers while giving a briefing said that ‘Punjab Rangers looks after the security of the eastern border from Head Marala to Manthar.

Punjab Rangers have detained 822 Afghans since 2017. While one person belongs to Indian-administered Kashmir. While 667 are Pakistani.

During the meeting, DG Sindh Rangers, giving a briefing on the security situation, said that ’15 percent of the force is allocated inside Sindh, 32 percent for the borders and 53 percent for Karachi.’

According to him: “On the request of the Sindh government, three wings have been deployed for operations in the Kacha region.”

Special Protection Unit for the security of Chinese nationals

In the meeting, Chief Commissioner Islamabad while giving a briefing on the security of foreigners said that a meeting was held on the security of Chinese residents in the Chinese Embassy. And steps are being taken in this regard.’

IG Islamabad said that there are 27 police stations in Islamabad. We have created a Special Protection Unit which has 457 personnel who will ensure the security of the Chinese citizens in addition to the CPEC.

He further said that ‘hotels are getting the data of tourists and passengers so that if anyone is involved in any action, it can be traced from the record.

“They are modernizing the 27 police stations of Islamabad, separating the crime section and the front desk for this purpose.”

Pakistan has changed its visa policy

In the committee meeting, DG Passport Mustafa Qazi said that Pakistan has changed its work visa policy from 90 days to two years. While the business visa for investment purpose will now be for five years.

Regarding Afghan citizens, he said that ‘Electronic Travel Authorization has been extended to Afghan investors. While medical visa will be issued to those who will reach Pakistan in a critical condition.

He further informed that ‘Visa requests of Afghans have reduced from 10 thousand to 1 thousand.’

He said that the issue of passport lamination has been resolved. 10 thousand 86 Pakistani passports issued to Afghan citizens came from Saudi Arabia, which has been investigated as to who is involved in which case.

According to DG Passports, ‘blue passports have been issued to 47 honorary ambassadors on the instructions of the Prime Minister.’

Married women can have an identity card in their father’s name

In the meeting of the standing committee, NADRA officials said that ‘we received complaints from women that widows and divorced women wanted to put their father’s name on the identity cards, so we have allowed it by amending the rules.

“Married women can change the identity card in their father’s name.”

In the first meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Internal Security Matters, the members of the Assembly were seen questioning the Chairman CDA on the facilities available in the Parliament Lodges.
