Saudi law stipulates that employers are not allowed to hire women in establishments designated for male customers only, such as men’s sports clubs and men’s barber shops. This is a violation of uniform regulation of women’s work environment in the private sector. A team from the ministry’s Al-Khobar branch raided the barbershop, said ministry spokesman Saad Al Hammad.

He clarified that the ministry officials inspected the shop following noticing a commercial advertisement of a female worker serving the customers in the barber shop.
