WASHINGTON (Archyde.com) – A man with a large rented van who rammed security barriers near the White House faces multiple criminal charges, police said on Tuesday.

The accident occurred on Monday, and authorities said it may have been deliberate.

Police said in a statement that the suspect had been charged with threatening to kill, kidnapping, or causing harm to the president, vice president or family member, among other charges, and did not identify the man.

The US Secret Service said it took the man into custody following the incident, and there was no immediate danger and no injuries.

According to Archyde.com, investigators found a flag bearing the Nazi symbol, the swastika, inside the truck that crashed into barriers in Lafayette Square, adjacent to the White House grounds.

It was not clear where President Joe Biden was exactly when the accident occurred, and Biden had met with Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy at the White House earlier Monday evening.
