A man suffering from stomach pain for two years shocked doctors who discovered that the patient had a large number of household items, ranging from buttons to earphones.

“When X-rays were conducted, we found necklaces, chains, nuts, bolts, earphones and many other things inside the stomach,” said Ajmer Singh Kalra, director of Moga Medical Hospital in Moga, Punjab. New York Post.

The patient, Kuldeep Singh, 35, reportedly went to the hospital because he was concerned regarding abdominal problems, as well as a high temperature.

Paramedics surveyed the problem area, whereupon they made a troubling discovery: Singh had reportedly consumed nearly 60 items, including necklaces, chains, nuts, bolts, earbuds, safety pins, magnets, shirt buttons, zippers, and numerous non-edible items.

Doctors diagnosed connoisseur pica, a mental health condition in which the patient “compulsively swallows things that are not food,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.

This disease is common among young children, pregnant women, and people with psychological disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, or schizophrenia.

According to the Jam Press website, the patient’s relatives were not aware of the problem.

It is not surprising that eating indigestible things can be dangerous to human health, as was the case with Singh.

“Since he ate sharp objects, he sustained serious injuries in his abdomen,” Kalra said, adding that he “decided to operate on him.”

Singh then underwent a three-hour surgery supervised by surgeon Anoop Handa and gastroenterologist Vishavnur Kalra.
