According to the police, following the verbal attacks there was a sexual assault and physical abuse once morest his partner in the 48-year-old’s apartment. In self-defense, the 42-year-old woman grabbed a kitchen knife, stabbed the man and was able to escape. The man was seriously injured.
The starting point of the violent confrontation was the neighbor’s apartment. The 42-year-old Austrian spent time there and chatted with her friend. Her partner arrived later in the evening and was already heavily intoxicated. After the situation quickly escalated and the Bosnian citizen threatened both women with death, he returned to his own four walls with his partner. There – where the woman’s two small children were at the time – further attacks are said to have occurred, in which the 42-year-old finally defended herself with a knife and was able to escape from the apartment.
Temporary arrest
The police arrived at the scene shortly following 8 p.m. and temporarily arrested the man. The 48-year-old was found seriously injured, but his life was not in danger. After initial emergency medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service, the man was taken to a hospital. The woman was also transported to a hospital for evaluation. The suspect was found to have an alcohol level of over one per mille.
The woman’s two children, who are under ten years old, were picked up by relatives. Child and youth welfare services were informed regarding the incident. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, South branch, took over the further investigation. No entry or approach bans are issued once morest the suspect.
