(CNN) Jordan Neely, whose mother was murdered in 2007, made a living impersonating Michael Jackson in Times Square and subways in New York City.

Vazquez said Neely did not appear to have a weapon. But in the video, someone might be heard saying that Neely had a knife.

After a while, Mr. Neely stopped speaking and stopped moving.

NYPD officers arrived at a subway station in lower Manhattan following receiving a call around 2:30 p.m. and found Neely unconscious. Neely was given first aid and taken to hospital, but died the same day.

When Vazquez learned of Neely’s death, he handed over the video to the police.

Investigators said the man who strangled Neely was a 24-year-old former Marine living in the Queens area and was sent home following being questioned by investigators.

Prosecutors are still investigating and are appealing for information from witnesses and the incident.
