Man set on fire after coming out of mosque in UK; One person was arrested

Birmingham – A 70-year-old man was set on fire following coming out of a mosque in Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK.

The police have arrested a suspect in the incident that took place around 7pm on Monday night. Last month, an 82-year-old man was set on fire in a similar manner in West London. West Midlands Police and the Metropolitan Police are investigating whether there is a link between a similar attack in Ealing and the recent attack in Edgbaston. The police have ordered a terrorist investigation into the arson incident.

It is clear from the released video footage that the victim, who was on his way home from the mosque in Edgbaston, was sprayed with an unknown substance on his body and then set his jacket on fire. It is also seen that the assailant was walking to the other side of the road when the fire broke out. Other passers-by saw the fire and rushed to help the victim. They extinguished the fire.
