In a disconcerting event, the Attorney General’s Office has presented Ernesto López Medina before a guarantee control judge, accused of impersonating a veterinarian and causing the death of a dog in Flandes, Tolima.
According to the investigation by the Special Group to Fight Animal Abuse (Gelma), between February and December 2020, López Medina treated the dog, nicknamed ‘Black’.
The subject would have given him a variety of medications in the hope of improving his health.

However, the alleged false veterinarian determined that the only option was to humanely euthanasia the animal.
On December 11, 2020, in precarious health conditions, López Medina would have carried out the procedure.
At which time he injected the canine with an unknown substance and buried it, without realizing that it was still alive.
Fortunately, several citizens found the dog, rescued it and took it to an emergency veterinary clinic.
However, unfortunately he died due to the serious injuries suffered.
Experts determined that ‘Negro’ suffered from malnutrition, chronic kidney disease and other health conditions that had not been adequately treated.
As a result of these findings, the Prosecutor’s Office has charged López Medina with the crime of aggravated animal abuse.
Although the accused has not accepted the charges of said accusation.
The community has expressed concern in this sector of Tolima regarding the crimes that this man who pretended to be a veterinarian may have committed.
