The man was remanded in custody by the Telemark district court on Monday for two weeks with complete isolation, a ban on letters and visitors and a ban on newspapers and broadcasting.
In addition to having left the woman in a helpless state, he is charged with violence against her.
– He is also charged with a minor incident of violence against the woman, which must have happened on Friday afternoon or evening, says police inspector Odd Skei Kostveit to NRK.
Kostveit says Telemark newspaper that the police believe the violence against the woman is not directly related to the death.
Ask for help to call an ambulance
The woman in her 50s was found dead in a wooded area by passers-by. The police were notified of the discovery at 1.48pm on Saturday. The death is being investigated as suspicious.
According to Telemarksavisa, the man was arrested on Saturday at 12.07, just under half an hour after he himself had rang the doorbell of a house in Drangedal and asked for help to call an ambulance.
There he is said to have stated that he found the woman in a forest clearing near Heldøla, and that she needed urgent help.
The detention order states that the district court believes it is likely that the man left the woman in a helpless state. They also believe that the accused’s explanations differ from those of the witnesses, and the district court also emphasizes witness statements that the man can be linked to the place where the woman was found.
