Man Injured in Stabbing in Downtown Montreal: Latest News and Updates

A 41-year-old man was injured in the upper body by a stab weapon during the night from Sunday to Monday in downtown Montreal.

Around 2:30 a.m., a call was made to 911 concerning a man injured by a stab, at the corner of Sainte-Catherine Ouest and Mackay streets, in the heart of downtown Montreal.

The victim was conscious when he was transported to a hospital, where he had to be treated for upper body injuries caused by a sharp object, said the Montreal Police Service (SPVM).

There is no fear for his life according to medical authorities, the police force said.

“A conflict could be at the origin of the event,” added the spokesperson, Julien Lévesque.

No suspects have been apprehended at this time and a security setting has been set up at the scene in an attempt to obtain more information. Forensic identification investigators and a dog handler went to the scene early in the morning.
