(Keystone-ATS) A man in his thirties was intercepted on Tuesday following committing serious offenses in the Vue-des-Alpes tunnel (NE). The driver notably overtook despite a double safety line.
While traveling in the tunnel towards La Chaux-de-Fonds (NE) and following having overtaken for the first time despite the double security line, the man stopped his vehicle on Tuesday around 3:15 p.m. and got out, indicates Wednesday the Neuchâtel cantonal police. According to her, the driver probably wanted to fight with another motorist who was following him.
Two gendarmes happened to be on the scene. Upon seeing them, the motorist got back into his car and fled, overtaking several times once more, endangering motorists who were normally traveling in front, the police said.
For security reasons, the two gendarmes present on the scene did not chase the fugitive. The latter was able to be followed thanks to surveillance cameras and was subsequently intercepted by a patrol from La Chaux-de-Fonds. His vehicle was sequestered and a criminal investigation opened.
