A man has died in South Africa following finishing an entire bottle of Jägermeister in just under two minutes, the Daily Mirror reported on Wednesday morning. Jägermeister is a German liqueur made from aromatic and medicinal plants, grading 35°.
The man, believed to be between 25 and 30, suffered fatal side effects following swallowing the entire bottle of Jägermeister during a binge drinking contest in Limpopo, South Africa.
In a video, which has gone viral on social media, the man is seen drinking nonstop – as people around him cheer him on during the dangerous bibit contest.
He drank the entire bottle without a single pause in less than two minutes before passing out.
He hoped to make some money, but was rushed to hospital where he tragically died.
According to reports, police in Limpopo, South Africa have now opened an investigation into the death of the deceased young man.
A spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, told Sowetan Live: “One immediately collapsed followingwards and was taken to the local clinic, where he was certified dead.”
