A 25-year-old man died following being hit in the street in Quissac (Gard), around thirty kilometers from Alès, according to information from Midi libre that Le Parisien is able to confirm. According to initial information, the victim was in the city center at the end of the day, when he received several blows with a telescopic baton to the face and back.
She was able to reach her home, accompanied by a friend, where she died shortly following despite the intervention of the firefighters.
Around 8:15 p.m., a 21-year-old young man, who turns out to be the victim’s nephew, presented himself to the Quissac gendarmerie. In his first statements, he admitted to having carried out several blows. He then left the scene, underestimating the seriousness of his uncle’s injuries.
A debt of 30 euros
The suspect, who is not known to the authorities, was immediately taken into police custody. A murder investigation was opened by the public prosecutor of Alès and entrusted to the gendarmerie.
According to initial statements, which the investigation will have to confirm, the dispute is linked to a financial dispute. The nephew would have wanted to defend a friend to whom his uncle owed 30 euros. “The nephew would have felt uncomfortable towards his friend because the victim would have made him promise to reimburse this sum. The investigation will determine it,” the prosecutor told Le Parisien.
The hearings continue this Wednesday to determine possible other motivations. An autopsy of the victim is due to take place in the morning.
