Man convicted of murder charged with violence twice while on parole

The man convicted of murder was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2011, when he was 27 years old, after he brutally killed his 59-year-old neighbor in Orkanger.

Ten years after he was arrested, he was released on parole, writes TV 2.

Charged with violence while on parole

In February 2024, the man was produced for remand, and charged with attempted serious violence, theft, damage, drug possession and carrying a knife.

He had entered the apartment of an ex-girlfriend together with other people, according to the police. The man acknowledged the circumstances in court.

The Frostating Court of Appeal then held that the 39-year-old had a low threshold for resorting to violence. After four weeks in custody, the man was released.

In August this year, the man was arrested by the police, who believe that he has committed serious violence against a person. According to TV 2, he has acknowledged that he was in an apartment where a person was injured.

Not reinstated following the charges

The police found weapons in his apartment, and the man has been remanded in custody. TV 2 has asked the Trøndelag police district why the man has not been reinstated on parole. Police attorney Silje Nyland has responded as follows:

– Whether after this he could and should have been reinstated on the basis of the murder conviction from 2012, we must come back to.

Nyland was brought into the case this summer, and does not have a clear answer as to why the man was released from custody in March.

– We see that there has been correspondence between the police and the Correctional Service in February 2024, but must examine in more detail what assessments were made and what information was shared, before we can respond to this, she writes.

The man’s defender, lawyer Morten Furuholmen, has not answered the channel’s questions about the case.
