At this stage, no link has been established with the war in Ukraine. Two police officers were injured on Wednesday, July 5, at the end of the followingnoon, following a man “blew himself up” in a kyiv district court, said Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klymenko.
The man killed in the blast, who had been brought in for a court hearing, detonated a bomb trying to“escape from custody” while he was in the restroom, according to the attorney general’s office. The Minister of the Interior urged residents not to approach the scene to allow rescuers to better carry out their work.
The court, in front of which several ambulances went, was surrounded by a police cordon. kyiv has been under tight security since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February 2022. A nighttime curfew is in place.
