A 39-year-old woman was seriously injured in a knife attack by her ex-boyfriend in Vienna-Liesing on Friday evening. The man of the same age spotted his ex-partner in front of her apartment and stabbed her, the police reported on Saturday. The 39-year-old suffered multiple cuts and stab wounds to her back and shoulder. It was only when a witness called the police that the suspect let go of the woman and fled.
Officials from the Wega special unit arrested the man near the crime scene. The woman received emergency medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was taken to a hospital. Her life is not in danger. The bloody knife was still at the crime scene and was confiscated.
The Kosovan suspect refused to testify. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation into attempted murder.
