A man was awakened from his nap and arrested by Sherbrooke police officers on Saturday following hitting a median in the Plaza de l’Ouest parking lot.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, a citizen called the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) to report that a vehicle had just hit a median with her vehicle. Thanks to a good description of the car, the police found the suspect in the parking lot of the Plaza de l’Ouest, on Bourque Boulevard, the SPS announced in a press release on Saturday.

To arrest the 45-year-old man, police officers had to take him out of Morpheus’ arms only to finally notice that he was heavily intoxicated.

The man was therefore arrested for driving while impaired by drugs, possession of a weapon and drug trafficking. Following the arrest, a loaded handgun (pistol) and drugs were found in the vehicle.

The man, well known to the police, remained in custody Saturday evening and will appear during the day on Sunday on charges of driving while impaired by drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and several breaches of probation.
