Police arrested a man who set up a robbery once morest his ex-girlfriend to access her cell phone and check if the victim was having a relationship with anyone. The couple had broken up regarding two months ago and he did not accept the breakup.

According to information provided by the civil police to the g1 portal, the crime took place last Wednesday (6), on the Washington Luís Highway (BR-040) footbridge, near Reduc, in Duque de Caxias, Baixada Fluminense .


Images from highway security cameras show the moment the victim’s ex-boyfriend talks to an accomplice minutes before the robbery. After this brief meeting, the other man lies in wait, approaches the young woman and steals her smartphone.

Afterwards, the accomplice crosses a catwalk and hands the device to the ex-boyfriend. Those responsible for the crime were arrested by the police. The crime was classified under the Maria da Penha Law because, according to investigations, it was motivated by jealousy.

The delegate responsible for the case also reported that the ex-sister-in-law even told the victim that her brother had committed the crime. When going to the 42nd Precinct to retrieve the device, the woman identified her ex-boyfriend by watching the images from the road’s security cameras.

“There were never any reports of previous attacks. It was a common, normal relationship, in which the victim wanted to separate from the alleged perpetrator. And he had this unfortunate idea of ​​stealing his ex’s cell phone”, highlighted the case’s delegate, Flávio Rodrigues.
