One is two years younger than me, but still called Dasetta: Mammootty
Mammootty says that Yesudas is two or three years younger than him. However, Mammootty said that he is called Dasetan out of respect. He also said that it is like older people calling him Mammooka. He was speaking at a program held as part of Yesudas’s birthday.
Mammootty said that Yesudas’ birthday is also the anniversary of film music and there is no music beyond him. The actor said that a day does not start without his song and his voice can be heard wherever he goes.
‘Dasetan and I are only one or two years apart. But it’s just that Polly is younger than me. I call him Dasetta out of respect. I call him like many people call me Mammooka. We celebrate not only Dasetan’s birthday.
We are also celebrating the anniversary of film music and music. Beyond Dasetan, we have no music apart from him. Our day doesn’t start with song alone. Without Dasetan we cannot go on a journey, we cannot do anything. Wherever you go, you can hear the spot humming somewhere.
A Malayali cannot move forward even for a moment without listening to a song by Dasetan. Dasetan’s voice and song are so intertwined with our lives,’ said Mammootty.
Mammootty’s latest film to hit the theaters is Roshaak, which was directed by Nizam Basheer and released in October 2022. Bindu Panicker, Jagadish, Kottayam Naseer, Grace Antony and Asif Ali played other important roles in the film. The movie was well received in theatres.
