Mamani Keita and Aïda Nosrat, exile over the voices

The collective “From Kaboul to Bamako” releases an album conceived as a cultural encounter, a musical interbreeding and as a human adventure around the question of refugees and exile. Before going on stage at the “Au fil des voix” Festival, the Malian singer Mamani Keita and the Iranian singer and violinist Aïda Nosrat present this international project.

One is Malian, was rocked to Bambara songs before joining the Orchester du District de Bamako then the Badema National. She then became a backing vocalist for Salif Keïta, before collaborating with other big names in music, and releasing her albums under her name.

The other was born in Tehran, she studied musicology, she also learned singing, violin and composition at the Tehran Conservatory, where she was part of the symphony orchestra. She then moved to France with her husband, also a musician, Babak Mobasher, with whom she formed the group Manushan.

Mamani Keita and Aïda Nosrat will perform tomorrow evening at the “Au fil des Voix” festival. Today they present an album that brings together artists from different languages, traditions and musical cultures, but united by the harmony of music.

“Sowal Diabi, de Kaboul à Bamako” will be released on January 28 by Accords Croisés/Pias.
