DEPUTY Chairman of the DPR RI PKB Fraction, Maman Imanulhaq, asked the government to be more firm in cracking down on online gambling.
“The government and related stakeholders should be more firm in cracking down on online gambling, because its impact is dangerous for society,” he said, Wednesday (6/11).
According to him, online gambling, which is now increasingly widespread, has a bad impact not only on the perpetrators, but also on those closest to them or their families.

“In recent times, cases of domestic violence and divorce have also tended to increase due to online gambling addiction. Online gambling has also spread to various aspects of people’s lives, including their families,” he explained.
If one of the family members is ensnared or addicted to online gambling, the financial burden increases and emotional stress also increases. “This condition causes potential conflict and other social problems,” continued Maman.
For this reason, he asked the government to be more firm in cracking down on online gambling at its roots to ensure that no more people become victims.
Maman also reminded that the participation of all elements of society, including religious leaders, is very much needed to protect and educate the public about the dangers of online gambling. “We also invite all people to be aware of the temptation of online gambling and protect their families from the dangers of this act,” he said.

**Interview with Maman Imanul Haq: Addressing Hajj Policy Concerns**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Maman Imanul Haq. You recently raised concerns regarding the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ (Kemenag) policy on the Hajj quota for 2024. Can you elaborate on what specific violations you believe have occurred?
**Maman Imanul Haq:** Thank you for having me. My main concern lies in the abrupt changes to the Hajj quota allocation, which I believe were not communicated transparently to stakeholders, especially to the prospective pilgrims. This lack of clarity raises questions about fairness and adherence to established guidelines.
**Interviewer:** You have mentioned the existence of an investigative committee into these issues. What are your expectations from this committee?
**Maman Imanul Haq:** I expect the committee to conduct a thorough investigation and make recommendations that ensure accountability. The Hajj pilgrimage is a sacred obligation for many Muslims, and it’s crucial that the process is handled with integrity and transparency.
**Interviewer:** In your view, what steps should the Ministry of Religious Affairs take to address these issues and restore public trust?
**Maman Imanul Haq:** The Ministry must engage in open dialogue with the public and key stakeholders. They should clarify the criteria for Hajj quota allocation and ensure that all processes are transparent. Furthermore, implementing stronger oversight mechanisms can prevent future discrepancies.
**Interviewer:** Lastly, as a member of the DPR, how do you plan to follow up on this issue moving forward?
**Maman Imanul Haq:** I will continue to advocate for transparency and accountability within the Ministry. This could include proposing legislative measures that ensure better governance of Hajj services. I’ll also push for regular updates to the public on the findings of the committee.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Maman, for your insights and commitment to addressing these pressing issues.
**Maman Imanul Haq:** Thank you for the opportunity to discuss these important matters.
