Security researchersA new way to disguise iPhone shutdownDeveloped andPresenting the possibility that malware can be sustained even following iOS is restartedDid.
Technology that makes it look as if it has been shut down
Normally, a reboot would wipe out the malicious code, but a researcher at security company ZecOps developed “NoRebootIf you use the technologyMalware persists and may survive following a reboot… apparently …
This technologyTrying to convince users that the device has been turned off by pretending to shut down the iPhoneThing. If the attacker succeeds in this, any malware can continue to run on the device. for example,Spying with iPhone camera and microphoneEtc. may be done.
May be incorporated into malicious apps
NoReboot works by injecting malicious code into the three background processes (InCallService, SpringBoard, backboardd) that are responsible for the iPhone reboot process.
When an attacker hijacks the reboot process, the iPhone appears to be turned off, but it boots completely and stays connected to the Internet. This allows an attacker to do whatever he wants without warning.
NoReboot is not malware, but it might be incorporated into applications as a way to evade detection and gain malicious code persistence on iOS devices.
