Who does not know the most popular sun island of the Germans – MALLORCA. Most know the island mainly from summer vacation. Mallorca also has a lot to offer at other times of the year. I decided at short notice to enjoy a few days of sun and relaxation. From Munich you can fly to Mallorca in two hours. Quiet, sun, relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and empty tourist highlights, that’s what I’m looking forward to on my short trip to the sunny island.
Spring in Mallorca
In spring, Mallorca shows itself from a beautiful side. Pleasant temperatures and the perfect climate can be found in Mallorca in spring. The well-known and popular sights can be explored without problems or long waiting times. There are no queues in front of the cathedral in Palma and in my favorite place Cappuccino in the middle of Palma it is a lot of fun to enjoy the peace and the sun while people-watching.
My time out in Mallorca
After a two-hour flight from Munich to Palma and an uncomplicated, fast transport to the Hotel SON CALIU SPA OASIS I feel relief The last few weeks have been an extreme burden, both health-wise and privately. A friendly reception at the hotel gives a pleasant start to the short holiday. Arrive, go to the beach, sun and peace – that’s how I like to start my short break.
The Hotel SON CALIU SPA OASIS is located directly on a small bay with a private beach. It is not a bed stronghold, but a family-run hotel for generations. The hotel owner was always on site and always had a friendly word for guests. Unobtrusive, serious and stylish – just like the whole house. The breakfast buffet and the evening menu leave nothing to be desired.
A large program is not the order of the day on this trip. Walks, soaking up the sun and a day in Palma are my only goals for the day. Accordingly, I carefully packed my suitcase. I checked in with a whopping 16.7 kg – that’s a sensation. I have carried out a precise wardrobe planning in advance. Everything can be combined with each other and I still wear a different look every day. This proves once more that planning the right outfit in advance is a huge relief.
Arrive and explore the nearby region
The small town of San Caniu, where my hotel is located, is manageable and cozy. From the hotel I can go directly to the long beach promenade. On the first day, that’s the best rest for me. So, put on those moccasins and head to the beach for a long walk. I walk and walk until I find the cute stylish beach restaurant SISOBEACH Mallorca discover. Pleasant music is playing in the background, the service staff is extremely friendly, smartly dressed and exudes positive motivation. Many restaurants are still closed in spring. Nobody has to starve, because a few meters away everyone will find something for their own taste.
What you should know is that you can hardly read a menu without a cell phone. There are codes on which the menu is stored. If you can’t figure it out, someone will help you immediately. You should be able to speak English, because you won’t get any further with German.
After a 10 km walk on the beach and a fabulously tasty dinner in the hotel, the first day ends according to my taste.
Excursion to Palma
Have you ever been to the CATHEDRAL of Palma? So far I’ve avoided it, since there was usually a waiting time of over 1 hour when you’re here in summer. No problem today. Four Spanish-speaking holidaymakers are queuing and also can’t believe their luck that you can visit the cathedral “La Seu” without any problems. I really take a lot of time for this, because there is so much to see and admire. I finally managed to take a detailed look at this imposing structure.
In Palma I love the hotel and cafes with the name CAPPUCCINO. A few small clouds are in the sky and the sun is giving everything. I am well advised with my quilted vest which I packed in the suitcase at the last minute. One thing you should definitely have with you in spring is a quilted vest.
The streets are empty, the shops on the promenade La Rambla invite you to look around a little longer. There is no crowding in the museum. The beautiful gallery named AHOYGALLERY, which I always visit when I’m in Palma, once once more has impressive sculptures on display. And the two attractive ladies who look following the gallery are from Germany and it’s easy to get into conversation.
Shopping in Palma is fun and there are so many beautiful things. But it’s hard to believe: I wasn’t in the mood for shopping this time. That’s why I managed to buy just one blazer in Palma.
Getting around the island is not a problem by bus. The Bus station in Palma de Mallorca is extremely clean and spacious. You can find your way around without any problems.
White sand beach
If you visit Mallorca in spring, you should be aware that it will not be a beach holiday. However, you can take long walks on the beach. Every day I ran an average of 10 kilometers on the beach – that was my daily goal, which I achieved. The beach in the Son Caliu/Palmanova region, where I spend my short trip, is wide and the turquoise water impresses me every day.
A few cafes are open and some locals are also enjoying the (almost) tourist-free springtime. The numerous palm trees are cared for and cared for. You might think you are in the Caribbean.
What I noticed positively
One thing I noticed during my stay: the supermarkets are unique! Clean, everything neatly and well sorted on the shelves, the staff equipped with appropriate clothing, motivated staff, at the checkout you are greeted in a friendly manner and if you have any questions, you are helped immediately. Nothing is standing around or being sorted. The baked goods are extremely well sorted and the bags have the appropriate closure. Many supermarkets and employees in Germany can learn a lesson here.
Spring in Mallorca
In any case, I would love to spend spring on Mallorca once more and stay a little longer next time. Especially when it’s still dark, wet and cooler in Germany, it’s a lot of fun to enjoy the first rays of sunshine. I will definitely treat myself to spring on Mallorca once more next year.
- Have you ever been to Mallorca?
- Where is your journey going this year?
Take care of me – see you very soon!
sincerely
