Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications reports that the rehabilitation and maintenance project of the PY01 route, known as Malla Sur, improves road safety in the city of Coronel Bogado, through interventions on bridges and speed bumps in strategic locations; it also includes the improvement of 167.9 kilometers of the PY01 route, from San Juan Bautista to Encarnación, in Misiones and Itapúa.
The initiative is part of the “Transport Connectivity” project, financed with the IBRD loan 8638-PY and under the supervision of the MOPC, the works are executed by the Santa Rosa Consortium.
Improvements include installing speed bumps in high-traffic areas, replacing railings on bridges with metal structures that are more durable and resistant. In addition, impact absorbers will be installed on the Mboi Kaé and Quiteria bridges, and sidewalks will be widened.
Malla Sur, under a contract for Rehabilitation and Maintenance by Service Levels, covers the improvement of 167.9 kilometers of the PY01 route from San Juan Bautista to Encarnación, in Misiones and Itapúa. Its execution includes two years of commissioning and five years of continuous maintenance, the current phase. This approach guarantees optimal road conditions, ensuring greater safety and efficiency in the long term.
These specific measures are intended to significantly reduce the risk of accidents, increasing road safety for local residents and road users in the south of the country.
Nearly 3,000 residents of Cordillera benefit from improvements to local streets
District officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications continue to optimize the road infrastructure of the Cordillera department, benefiting 2,890 inhabitants from different localities.
According to data from the Department of Local Roads, maintenance work was carried out on 9 local sections to facilitate citizen transit and guarantee access to essential services such as education, health and supplies.
In Valenzuela, access to Potrero Pucu was improved; in 1º de Marzo, the sections Gral. Diaz, Yhaguy and San Blas were worked on; while in Emboscada, the section between route PY03 – Km 100.
Work was also carried out on the pass between Arroyo y Esteros and Tobatí, as well as on the D009 departmental route; in San José Obrero, the San Antonio – San Pedro section; in San Bernardino, work was carried out on the Yvu company; in Caacupé, on the Itayvumi section and in Atyrá, the access to the Zanja Hu company.
The work included the conditioning of platforms, ditching, loading of materials, repairing potholes, clearing of right-of-way strips and opening of new roads. In total, 38.20 kilometers of roads that interconnect the communities were worked on, strengthening their road network.
The MOPC coordinates all these actions through its teams and local authorities, promoting infrastructure development in Cordillera to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
