Mall Aventura sets a date for the opening of the mall in San Juan de Lurigan

Mall Aventura had planned to open three shopping centers in just 3 years, but the pandemic put the ambitious project. Today, the firm has resumed its plans and is getting ready to open its first shopping center in Iquitos, as well as announcing the opening date of its long-awaited mall in San Juan de Lurigncho.

In this regard, Javier Postigo, CEO of Mall Aventura, shed new light on what his new establishments will be in our country. “We are at 35% progress of works in Iquitoswhich will require an investment of US$65 million including the land, and will be inaugurated on August 31, 2023″, the executive said.

In addition, it revealed which brands will be part of the mall in Iquitos. «We have already leased 75% of the premises and with good brands. Ripley, Falabella, Tottus, Sodimac and brands such as Skechers, Tayssir, American Brands, Topitop, Bata, Samsung, Renzo Costa, among others, will be present”, revealed Postigo.

On the other hand, the CEO of Mall Aventura said that the new shopping center in Iquitos will be built in stages. “Today it is developed on a plot of more or less 50,000 m2 (which will have a GLA of 47,000 m2), which is well located (on Quiñones Avenue),” he said.

Then, he added: «Next to it there is a piece of land that belongs to the Police where there is housing, but little occupied that might be used for expansion in the future. It will be a big mall from the start. Iquitos is a very powerful square. A city of more than 500 thousand people, with an emerging economy».

When is the San Juan de Lurigancho mall inaugurated?

Postigo pointed out that originally the plan contemplated first the opening of the shopping center in San Juan de Lurigancho and then Iquitos, but they decided to invert the order because they saw that the acceptance by Iquitos was very strong.

«In the case of San Juan de Lurigancho (SJM) we wanted to see how the financial health of the operators was going because it will be a much larger mall (65,000 m2). Although the anchors are signed, many more stores must be carried, “said the CEO of Mall Aventura.

The executive also gave details of the progress of the mall. “Among anchors and brands signed for SJL, we reach 55%, so you have to look at it carefully because they are smaller stores and they have to have a better path to improve their financial quality and invest in capex. However, when going out to lease Iquitos, the operators have told us that they want to sign both, and that leads us to see if we advance the mall in San Juan de Lurigancho».

Postigo also pointed out that the new San Juan de Lurigancho Shopping Center would finally see the light of day in 2023. «The original idea was that the SJM mall was ready for the first quarter of 2024, today given the interest we are thinking of bringing it forward to the last quarter of 2023, which would lead us to have two malls per year,” he said.

The Shopping Center will be located on Lurigancho Avenue, just 250 meters from the subway station on Próceres Avenue, the main avenue of the district that crosses it entirely from North/South and 700 meters from Huiracocha Zonal Park.

Mall Aventura: Incorporations and new projects

In addition, the executive pointed out that changes in a mall, related to expansions and renovations, occur every five years, so he estimates that by 2024 significant changes might be seen in Mall Aventura Santa Anita.

In the case of Arequipa, an extension was already made at the end of 2018 with the arrival of H&M, Estilos and MAC, so the changes might be between 2023 and 2024. And regarding Chiclayo, Postigo stressed that despite opening in a pandemic has had a good sales performance, with almost zero vacancies.
