The band MALIQ & D’Essentials enlivened the flag-lowering ceremony to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Saturday.

Monitored from a live streaming broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, their performance was enthusiastically welcomed by the invited guests, who also felt the spirit and joy of the music they performed.

MALIQ & D’Essentials performed the song “Senja Teduh Pelita,” which is their own original work. The song was performed before the flag-lowering ceremony began.

The harmonious combination of voices and distinctive musical arrangements from MALIQ & D’Essentials succeeded in creating a warm and fluid moment in the midst of this solemn state event.

The atmosphere became even more lively when the band performed again after the flag-lowering ceremony.

The viral song titled “Kita Bikin Romantis” successfully made the invited guests rise from their seats to move their bodies to the beat.

The series of events to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia this year were held in two locations simultaneously and connected (hybrid), namely at the State Palace in the Indonesian Capital (IKN) and at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

President Joko Widodo led the Commemoration Ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence in the framework of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace in the capital city. Meanwhile, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin led the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was also a special moment because for the first time the heirloom flag was flown during the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Anniversary in the new capital city.
In 2024, the theme of the Indonesian Independence Day is “New Archipelago, Advanced Indonesia” which shows the momentum of Indonesia’s transition, namely in welcoming the new capital city of the archipelago, and the transition of government. (Ant/M-4)
