A male student who sexually assaulted a drunken female student from his school and then left her in an alley in the cold early morning before running away was caught by the police.
According to the police on the 21st, Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul received a report from a passerby that “a woman was lying on the street” near Hyehwa Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul around 5 a.m. the previous day. Considering that the woman’s clothes were disheveled when she was discovered, the police suspected that she was a victim of sexual assault rather than simply being drunk.
After analyzing CCTV, the police urgently arrested Mr. A, a male student who goes to the same school as the woman. The CCTV footage released at the time showed Mr. A, wearing black padding, going into an alley while supporting a woman who seemed to be drunk and was struggling to walk properly. About 1 hour and 20 minutes later, Mr. A left the alley alone.
The police believe that Mr. A committed the crime while picking up a drunk woman after a company dinner. Unlike the victim, who was lying on the street in the middle of winter, Mr. A was reportedly staying at home at the time of his arrest.
The police are considering whether to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.
