A three-year-old child was seriously injured on Saturday followingnoon in a road accident in Maldegem, local police confirmed. The driver of the vehicle in which the young victim was found fell asleep.
The accident occurred shortly following 3 p.m. on the N9. The driver of the car apparently dozed off and crashed into a parked truck.
A three-year-old child who was in the crashed car was hospitalized in critical condition at Ghent University Hospital. The driver, who was slightly injured, was also taken to hospital.
