Prime Minister (PM) of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim on Saturday (19/10) strongly condemned the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israeli forces. The Taliban interim government in Afghanistan also expressed grief over Sinwar’s death.
In a statement on X, Anwar said Malaysia mourned the loss of a fighter and defender of the Palestinian people.
“Malaysia strongly condemns the killings and is clear that the regime’s efforts to undermine demands for release will not succeed. Malaysia insists that the international community rejects Israel’s barbarism and that the ongoing massacre of Palestinians must stop immediately,” he said in his post written in the local language.

Anwar said the international community had failed to ensure peace and justice were upheld as the situation worsened in the region. Despite international protests, Israel continues to carry out air and ground attacks in Lebanon and Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Taliban called on the Muslim world to stand in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the Hamas Islamic Movement, to all the mujahidin, and especially to the oppressed and brave Palestinian fighters, for the martyrdom of our heroic mujahid brother, Yahya Sinwar,” a statement said.
“We call on Muslims around the world to stand in solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people, to support their struggle, and to fulfill the divine duty that falls on all of us in this regard.”
The Israeli army said on Thursday that it had killed Sinwar during a military operation in Gaza. Hamas on Friday confirmed the death of its frontline leader, calling him a “hero who fought Israeli forces until his last breath.” (Yeni Safak/Z-2)
