At the meeting, Foreign Minister Zambry and Secretary General Kao Kim Hourn also discussed the current and future position and role of ASEAN, as well as the challenges the association needs to overcome.

Foreign Minister Zambry affirmed that Malaysia will make every effort to support Mr. Kao Kim Hourn in carrying out his duties as Secretary General of ASEAN and implementing the priority agenda of the association.

Dr. Kao Kim Hourn was officially inaugurated as the 15th Secretary-General of ASEAN on January 9. His term of office lasts 5 years, until 2027.
