Malaria: particularly vulnerable children

Transmitted to humans through the bites of Anopheles mosquitoes, malaria is a potentially fatal disease. In 2021, the estimated number of deaths attributable to malaria was 619,000, according to the WHO; a balance sheet higher than the pre-pandemic period. 96% of fatal cases have been recorded in sub-Saharan Africa. Four countries alone share more than half of this tribute: Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger and Tanzania.

The parasitic disease is particularly dangerous for children, since children under 5 account for 80% of all deaths. Where are the vaccination programs once morest malaria? Is the financing of the fight up to the health challenge? How to improve prevention?
