Malargüe adhered to the provincial law of Practice of Veterinary Medicine – Municipality of Malargüe

In this way, the department becomes the second provincial town to adhere to this legislation, which allows regulating commercial activity in veterinarians, pet shops, dog grooming salons and others.

After arduous steps taken by the Mendoza College of Veterinary Doctors and colleagues who work in Malargüe, the Honorable Deliberative Council adhered to Provincial Law No. 6472 on the Practice of Veterinary Medicine and the College congratulated the Malargüe colleagues for this great progress and we encourage the other municipalities of the province to follow in the footsteps of this department.

They also explained that in this way, the entire commercial authorization process that involves activities related to the practice of veterinary medicine in any of its disciplines, such as related activities, will be regulated with the aim of accompanying and clarifying the obligations and limitations of the establishments where it is practiced. veterinary medicine, in those where products for use in veterinary medicine are sold, such as in animal production establishments, where it is necessary to have the Technical Direction of a veterinary professional.

Then they said that Municipal Ordinance 2153/2022 determines the Veterinary and Zoonosis Directorate of the Municipality of Malargüe as the Enforcement Authority, with the support of the College of Veterinary Doctors.

Martín Vargas, director of Veterinary and Zoonosis of the Municipality of Malargüe, told with great joy this great news for the department and explained that this adhesion will allow them to work on aspects that were not addressed, such as that some clinics were selling medicines or various supplies without professional regulation.

From now on, and thanks to the adherence to this provincial legislation, the Veterinary and Zoonoses Directorate will be involved in commercial qualifications related to veterinarians, dog groomers, pet shops and others. “With this we will be able to make the pertinent observations, regulations and inspections,” he said.

In any case, the professional clarified that the law is not in force and specified that they are already working on the regulation to establish the corresponding parameters in the authorizations, controls, inspections, confiscation or what is required from the Directorate.
