MakerPoint acquires all cards 3D Printing Solutions business from parent company cards PLM Solutions. Mark Burghoorn, sales manager at cards, joins the MakerPoint sales team as a sales engineer. “This acquisition will accelerate our growth in the Benelux,” says Sander Smit, CEO of MakerPoint regarding this move.
MakerPoint, founded ten years ago by Sander Smit, strengthens its position in the 3D printer market in the Benelux with this acquisition, both for applications for engineers and for the actual production of end parts with 3D printing. According to Sander Smit, the two companies fit well together. “Our companies share a passion for digital manufacturing technology and the constant pursuit of maximum customer satisfaction through a personal approach.”
Different strategy of cards PLM Solutions
The 3D printing activities were a business unit of cards PLM Solutions, now part of Emixa. Since becoming part of this group of companies, with Holland Capital as the main shareholder, the strategy has shifted to international expansion as a Siemens Platinum Smart Expert partner. “The 3D printing activities no longer fit into our long-term strategy. In MakerPoint we have found a very capable partner to transfer our 3D printing business to”, says Erik Burghoorn, CEO of cards PLM Solutions.
MakerPoint to Location Best
One of the first concrete steps that MakerPoint is taking is moving its own location at BIC to the cards 3D Printing Solutions building in Best. From this location, in the heart of the Brainport region, MakerPoint will offer application development, demos and sales. It does this for several brands of 3D printers and scanners, such as UltiMaker, Formlabs, Raise3D, miniFactory and Shining3D. Mark Burghoorn: “Both MakerPoint as cards 3D Printing Solutions share a rich and valuable history of collaboration. We have always maintained the same standards and values and had an identical commitment to the market.” He is convinced that existing and future customers will benefit from the cooperation.
