“Make way for another candidate,” a newspaper tells Biden

WASHINGTON (EFE).— The Boston Globe newspaper yesterday joined the voices calling for Joe Biden to abandon the presidential race “for the good of the country” and reflected in its editorial that doubts are growing regarding his ability to govern for another four years.

The Boston Globe editorial board advised Biden to “gracefully concede” and free his delegates to vote for someone else during the Democratic National Convention, which will be held from August 19 to 22 in Chicago to officially elevate the Democratic candidate to the presidency of the United States.

“For the good of the country, his party and his legacy, Biden must do this. And soon,” the paper added.

Although he acknowledged that the race to replace Biden might be chaotic, he added that it would also be “incredibly exciting,” something that, he said, the Democratic Party needs to encourage its voters, beyond the fear of former Republican president Donald Trump (2017-2021).

Last Friday, one day following the televised debate between Biden and Trump that exposed all the weaknesses of the current president, the newspaper “The New York Times” also called on the Democratic candidate to abandon the electoral race.

Since then, a growing number of newspapers, analysts and members of the Democratic Party have called for Biden to make way for another candidate ahead of the November 5 presidential election.
