And if you get into one, can you identify it? According to research by Kasperksy, most Brazilians do not. 65% say they can’t verify that a website is real. In total, 71% say they do not check whether a website is real before handing over their personal data.
In the report “Fingerprints and their relationship with people and companies”, there is also data that 3 out of 10 Brazilians were victims of scams or attempted fraud last year, recalling the importance of digital education in the country. After all, scams are getting more and more refined by copying original domains, applying similar layouts and URLs that can look real at a glance.
Among those who pay attention to website details, most say they check the company name and service through search engines (64%), while others check the URL itself if the website matches the company name (48%). download the app from the official store (44%) or analyze the page content to look for signs of fraud (38%).
Among the company’s tips to avoid this type of problem are: only download programs from official sources, checking the developer and reviews, reading the installation notifications and what permissions the app requires; in addition to checking if there are spelling errors in the URL or if they are in strange domains, different from the common .com.br, .net, .gov etc.
