Major search operation: Writer Bodo Hell disappears in the Dachstein region

As the “Kleine Zeitung” reported on Sunday, there has been no contact with the author since Friday. An acquaintance who had climbed up to the Grafenbergalm on Sunday morning found the hut empty. Back in the valley, he immediately alerted the police. The police confirmed to the daily newspaper that an 81-year-old Viennese man had been reported missing in the Grafenbergalm area.

Large-scale search operation

No information was given about the man’s identity. Around 100 forces are now deployed to search for the missing man – mountain rescuers from the entire Dachstein region, firefighters, the Federal Army, Alpine police and two police helicopters. According to the “Kleine Zeitung”, the search for the Viennese man is also ongoing on the Upper Austrian side of the Dachstein.

This year, Hell received the Styrian Literature Prize. The Salzburg native spends his summers in an alpine hut on the Grafenbergalm, where he not only looks after around 100 animals, but also writes his books.
