The power outage in the municipality of Oss has been resolved. In the center, the neighborhoods outside and in a number of surrounding villages, it suddenly became dark following the parade, around a quarter to six. Ultimately, more than 27,000 households were without power for two and a half hours. The problem now appears to be slowly being resolved.

Images of a dark tent in the municipality emerged on social media. The parade took place in Oss on Sunday followingnoon, causing a large number of carnival revelers to duck into the tent and cafes. “Fortunately, there is a generator in the tent and many cafes also have emergency power,” the municipality said. This meant that partygoers did not have to be completely in the dark.

It remained quiet in the city center, under the supervision of enforcement and police.

Pay in cash
Because of the generators it did not remain dark in the tent and in the cafes. “You cannot pay by card in the pub and there is no music,” center manager Jack van Lieshout said. “So I just brought a box with me.”

Many surrounding villages were also without power. The cause of the malfunction was not yet known, but is being investigated. By a quarter past eight, the disruption was slowly receding. The center then had power once more.
