The Boston Bruins traded Taylor Hall to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.
Chicago also gets the rights to forward Nick Foligno, who might become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. In return, Boston acquires the rights to potential restricted free agents, defensemen Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula.
“We are thrilled to add players of the caliber of Nick and Taylor to our organization,” said Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson. Both bring a wealth of experience and leadership that will not only strengthen our attacking squad, but will aid the development of our entire roster. »
Hall has two more seasons left on the four-year, $6 million average annual contract he signed with the Bruins on July 23, 2021.
The 31-year-old forward had 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 61 games this season, before adding eight points, including five goals, in seven playoff games.
Drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010, Hall has 693 points (264 goals, 429 assists) in 822 regular season games with the Bruins, Buffalo Sabers, Arizona Coyotes, New Jersey and the Oilers. He also has 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists) in 39 playoff games.

The 22-year-old Regula hasn’t scored a point in four games with the Blackhawks this season. A third-round pick (67th) of the Detroit Red Wings in 2018, he has 22 games of NHL experience, all with Chicago.
Foligno has 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 60 games with the Bruins this season, his 16th in the NHL. The 35-year-old veteran also added a goal and two assists in three playoff games.
The Blackhawks hold the first-ever pick in the 2023 draft, which takes place on Wednesday. They should select center Connor Bedard.
