Asuncion, IP Agency.- More than two tons of marijuana and firearms are part of the evidence seized during two raids carried out in river drug trafficking depots and clandestine ports located at Km 4, near a slope of the Paraná River. A military personnel was injured by a trap, but is now out of danger, reported the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad).
The raids were carried out by Special Agents, personnel from the GEO of the National Police and the Naval Prefecture, under coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The raided locations served as an escape route for boats loaded with drugs bound for Brazil. The forces based their objectives on dismantling two important riverine drug trafficking depots with their respective storage and transport logistics.
With the arrival of the police, armed men abandoned the warehouses and took refuge in the nearby mountains. During their escape, an exchange of gunfire took place.
One of the members also came into contact with a “trap device” placed in the area, which caused a wound to his leg. He was immediately evacuated to a medical center and is no longer in danger, Senad said.
Seizures
From the first storage area they seized closed-circuit devices, a shotgun with projectiles; while from the second storage area, 2,612 kilos of marijuana and another shotgun. The surroundings were guarded by homemade traps and the organization had trucks and boats for transport.
As for logistics, there will be a better perspective, as the searches continue this Friday. The interveners have relevant information about those in charge of both the warehouses and the clandestine ports prepared in the area.
