State support for housing renovation is increasing. On Wednesday July 12, the government announced a 66% increase in the annual budget of MaPrimeRénov’, a flagship renovation aid scheme, which will be increased from 2.4 to 4 billion euros for 2024. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne welcomed this increase “unprecedented”.
Since its launch in 2020, MaPrimeRénov ‘has helped more than 1.5 million French people to embark on an energy renovation project for more than 5.6 billion euros committed, had declared in mid- June before a senatorial commission the Minister of Housing Olivier Klein, evoking a “historical dynamics”.
This increase in the budget is included in the additional 7 billion euros announced on Saturday in order to double the rate of reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. France must, by 2030, reduce its emissions by 50% compared to 1990 levels, in accordance with the new objectives of the European Union.
