If citizens try to access the municipality’s website at the moment, they will be greeted by an error page.
This currently applies to Thisted Municipality’s official website, thisted.dk, following a massive hacker attack.
The municipality writes this on its Facebook page.
– We are currently experiencing a massive hacker attack on our website and expect to have challenges these days, writes Thisted Municipality on Sunday at noon.
– We are working hard to solve the problem and regret that we cannot provide the same service as usual.
Therefore, Thisted Municipality recommends that citizens seek information and services via email and telephone.
Mayor Niels Jørgen Pedersen (V) says that only the website is affected.
– It has not affected our own systems. Mails and everything else continue as I understand it, he says.
In doing so, he does not expect citizens’ information to be at risk either.
Thisted Municipality’s hosting company has shut down the website to deal with the problem. Therefore, citizens cannot access it. The expectation is that thisted.dk will be up and running once more on Monday.
The mayor does not know for sure why Thisted Municipality is being hit, but there are indications that it is not the municipality at all that the hackers have gone following.
– It seems that they have gone following infrastructure, and Thisted Airport is on thisted.dk. It looks like they’ve gone following the airport. Our hosting company shut down immediately while they are solving the challenge, he says.
