Major General Medhat Abdel Rahim, Assistant Minister of Interior and Director of Port Said Security, is being given a military funeral today in his hometown of Sohag Governorate. Funeral prayers were performed for him at the Police Mosque in front of the Directorate, in the presence of Major General Tariq al-Fiqi, the governor of the region, Major General Assistant Minister, Director of Sohag Security, and a number of security and executive leaders. Yesterday evening, his body was moved from the Ismailia Medical Complex to Sohag Governorate to be buried.
The Public Prosecution decided to bury the body immediately following completing all legal procedures, following its transfer to the refrigerator of the Ismailia Medical Complex until the burial was authorized. Upon hearing the news, Major General Adel Al-Ghadban, Governor of Port Said, moved to the Ismailia Medical Complex and was received by Engineer Ahmed Essam El-Din, Deputy Governor of Ismailia.
Major General Medhat Abdel-Rahim was involved in a car accident on the June 30 axis on Wednesday, resulting in his death and the transfer of his body to Al-Tal Al-Kabir Hospital.
