The fire that broke out in the dunes between Le Coq and Bredene is under control, local police said on Tuesday afternoon. Five cars burned in the blaze and six others were damaged. Firefighters continue to spray water to prevent any further outbreak of fire.
Firefighters were deployed in large numbers to Vosselslag, in the entity of Le Coq, to extinguish the fire. The fire broke out in a strip of dunes over a distance of about 400 meters. Firefighters will continue to douse the ashes for some time to avoid any risk of resumption. “We hope that the fire will not resume, because it is very windy,” concluded the firefighters.
