Firefighters from Marcinelle and Jumet arrived with screaming sirens in Gosselies, north of Charleroi, this Tuesday evening. Around 9:20 p.m., they were informed of an explosion in a building with 10 apartments on Astrid Street.
Accompanied by the local police, several ambulances and several SMUR, the firefighters arrived on the scene under the orders of Captain Berrendorph and Lieutenant Malanion. On site, the situation is chaotic: the building is on fire, and it is spreading to other neighboring homes. The residents have partially evacuated, and on the sidewalk opposite, four people are lying injured.
The Charleroi police established a large security perimeter to allow emergency services to work, while the 4 injured people were treated and taken to hospital.
